Find your apprenticeship.
Meet real shops near you at open houses and ride-alongs. Get hired, log your hours, and keep a record that’s yours.
- 01
RSVP and show up
Each event tells you when, where, what you’ll do and what to bring. RSVP in one tap, then scan the shop’s QR code when you get there.
- 02
Get a real answer
After the event, the shop invites you back, offers you a spot, or tells you it’s not a fit and why. No more applying into silence.
- 03
Log your hours in one tap
Once you’re working, log each day from your phone. Your shop approves it, and every approved hour goes on your record.
- 04
Bring your paper logbook
Already have hours on paper? Snap a photo of each page or upload a spreadsheet. You check every day, then your shop approves them.
It’s yours, from shop to shop.
Approved hours, events you showed up to and times you were invited back. Shops can’t edit it, and it stays with you if you change shops. Share it with the next shop in one tap.

- Does it cost anything?
- No. FirstHand is free for apprentices, always. Shops pay to use it.
- Do I need experience?
- No. Open houses are made for people starting out or switching careers. Come curious and on time.
- Is an open house a job?
- It’s a visit. You meet the crew and watch the work. If a shop wants you working, that’s a paid job.
- Where does FirstHand work?
- Nassau and Suffolk counties for now. Outside Long Island? Sign up and we’ll email you when shops near you join.
